Getty Images and Slate Launch New Integration

Slate has recently partnered with Getty Images, a preeminent global visual content creator and marketplace, on a new integration that will allow social media and content teams to work seamlessly between both platforms.

From the early discussions to the integration process, we have asked Eric Stark, Slate’s cofounder, a few questions:

First, congratulations for this new collaboration! Could you tell us more about the genesis of it? How did it all start?

When we first set out to build Slate, we knew that editing and creating content was just one piece of the puzzle. Identifying an sourcing the media for social content had to be a key element within the Slate platform to truly unify all parts of the content creation workflow.

We knew from the outset that an integration with technologies that brands, media and sports organisation use to source photo and video content would be crucial, and Getty was always high on that list.

You mentioned that sourcing photo and video was something crucial for organisations. How did you identify this need? How will it streamline social media team in their day-to-day activities?

This came straight from our own experience running social media for brands. We often used services like Getty to download raw photos and videos, pull them into Photoshop or other pro-editing tools, and optimize them for social media.

To be able to browse and select a photo from Getty, resize it for Instagram, add a watermark, and post all from your phone streamlines a workflow that used to take minutes into seconds.

It also takes a process that used multiple different websites, apps, phone, and computers, and combines it into one seamless solution. And you don’t even need to download the media to your computer or camera roll, saving up space on your hardware! It’s a no-brainer.

This seems impressive! For some of them who haven't integrated it yet, what should they do to connect their Getty Images account to the Slate Mobile App?

It’s super easy.

You first need to connect your Getty Image Account to your Slate Account, using our web portal. Once Getty is connected, You should be able to search Getty Photos and Videos directly from your app.

You can watch our video tutorial (below), or follow steps here.

In addition to improve the speed of execution, how can social media producers leverage this new integration to improve their content?

This will help them to create more custom content for social. Leverage this new feature to identify the best possible photo and video content and create more high performing content like layouts, carousel posts, and more all in a matter of seconds. With its vast archive of more than 350 million images, Getty Image is a must have when it comes to using photos and videos for your own creations. There is no real limit of choice, compared to using free services like Unsplash, Pexels, etc.  Having this bank of content directly available in the Slate Mobile App is so powerful. This will greatly expand the creative capabilities of people using the application.

Have you already had any reactions from your customers? How have they welcomed it? Do you already have a use case?

Customers have been raving about this new feature. A few have reached out both to us and Getty to tell us how much they love it. We’ve heard “game changer” from a few of them as well. Many are already using this to replace how they create feed posts for Instagram and Twitter, and how they incorporate photos into their Stories content.
